Spooky Stalks Haunted Cornfield 12000 W. Appleton Ave. Rating: 3 tombstones Review: Cornfields are creepy anyway. Add a light drizzle and three haunted houses, and this walk is packed full of surprises. The first house is so dark that you can't see your hand before your eyes. You feel your way through as crazed creatures threaten you. While walking through the cornfield, you have a hard time distinguishing which creatures are real and which are props. The best house on this creepy tour is the mausoleum and cemetery. One actor performs some type of autopsy, and then you get the surprise of your life when you come across a ram man and giant gorilla trying to pull you in from behind bars. In this haunt, you pass a number of abandoned cars and trucks, along with the walking dead. Be careful: Just when you think something is a prop, it suddenly comes alive. Best scene: While walking through this cornfield, you stumble upon a totally unexpected vortex in the middle. Fear factor: Medium/High What makes it unique? It's all outdoors in a cornfield, and in the middle, this haunt has a vortex - and it's only $10. Novice ranking: 4 tombstones - "It was pretty creepy. The third house was really scary and the vortex made me dizzy," said Hayden Erlinder, 11, of Menomonee Falls. Dates: Oct. 19-20; Oct. 26-27 Hours: 7-10:30 p.m. Admission: $10 Children's matinee? No, but the actors turn it down for children. Wheelchair-accessible? No For-profit or charity? For-profit Information: spookycornfield.com |
